    2013 Stockade-athon 15K

Today was such a good day! This morning was the Stockade-athon, one of my favorite local races. Actually, I think it might be my favorite local race. And Its one of the only times I ever go to Schenectady…ha! Almost every runner I know ran today, too, so it was pretty cool running into all my friends at the race! Chris and myself My last long run for this race was actually the Hairy Gorilla Half two weeks ago! But, I did get some decent weekday running workouts in these past few weeks, so I had a goal, to run the 15K under 1:30. My 15K PR is 1:26 something,…

    Hairy Gorilla Half Marathon

Yesterday I ran my first trail half marathon! I had been wanting to run this local half marathon held up at Thacher Park for ages. I first ran the Squirrelly Six mile race three years ago, but the year after it was cancelled. Last year I was marathon training so I didn’t want to risk running 13.1 on a trail…finally this was the year! Christine and I dressed up as Minnie Mouse and a cat. One of the reasons I love this race is because it is Halloween themed! There are runners in costumes everywhere. The trails are decorated with gravestones and there are bats hanging from the trees! The…

    Ragnar Relay Adirondacks 2013

I’ve got another Ragnar Relay Adirondacks under my belt! It all started out on Friday morning. In case you are wondering, Ragnar is a 200 mile relay race with teams of 12 runners (6 for ultra teams), who run non stop from point to point. Ragnar Adirondacks went from Saratoga Springs, NY to Lake Placid, NY, all through the Adirondack Mountains. My alarm was set for 3:00AM. We had to start loading up Van 1 and head to the start at Saratoga, since our start time was 6:00am. Nikki, our Runner 1, was all set and ready to go. It was still dark when she set off. The first few…

Meals, Miles, Looks and Books for July

Meals After searching my photos for food in July–I only found my quesadilla from Muddaddy Flats. To be honest, I was so busy this month that I didn’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen! Dinners have been cereal, eggs, and other quick things. New goal for August: spend more time in the kitchen cooking real meals… Miles July marked my return to running! And a whopping 15 miles were ran this month! That’s usually a low weekly mileage for me, but I have been taking it easy to make sure my PF doesn’t come back. Most of my running has been on trails, like at Five Rivers, Peebles…

    Vermont City Marathon

I can’t believe race weekend is over! It went by way too fast. Race day started Sunday morning, with my alarm set up for 5:30AM, which isn’t too early considering I usually get up around 6AM. 😉 Loretta, my roomie for the weekend, (she was running the marathon relay!) and I got ready, ate breakfast (I brought cereal and soy milk to eat before the race) and got a bus from the hotel down to the starting line (about a 15 minute ride), so we got down to the start area 1 hour before the race started. I was getting bummed because it was already pouring and my shoes got…
