    We’re Married!

    On September 1st, Jordan and I got married at one of our favorite spots, John Boyd Thacher State Park! It was incredible. I couldn’t have asked for a better day.     Mountain Biking at Thacher Park

    Thacher Park is one of my favorite local spots for outdoor activities. I hike, snowshoe, ride my road bike to the lookout and run many a trail race there. But last weekend was the first time I went mountain biking there. We start at the Carrick Road parking lot at the Northern end of the park. We rode all the way to main entrance to the park and back, which totaled about 10 miles. 10 miles seems like nothing on a bike, but I’ll assure you that mountain biking 10 miles is a lot harder than road biking 10 miles.     Thacher Park Running Festival 10K

    Hey, guess what! I still run sometimes! And Sunday I ran  10K! The Albany Running Exchange held their second annual Thacher Park Trail Running Festival on Sunday. You may recall that I ran the 10K last year as well! Well, the weather was much nicer this year and the course was a little bit different. The race started at Horseshoe II Pavilion. There was a 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon and 50K, each of which started at 8:30AM.     Checking out the Holt Preserve and Thacher Park North

    Friday afternoon the weather was nice, so I decided to bring my mom on a short hike at the Holt Preserve. It’s not too far from where I live and I’m am always wanting to find new trails to explore. Located on top of a hill in southern Albany County, the trailhead is located down a dirt road, complete with old barn and a former farm house.   I parked my car across from the barn and walked down the dirt road to find another parking area and trail register.
