    Brookview Station Wine Tasting

Saturday after meeting up with my Ragnar Team and screen printing our team shirts, Loretta and I drove over to Schodack to visit Brookview Station Winery, located in Goold Orchards. I had a Groupon for the tasting that was about to expire so we wanted to check it out. The tasting room is located right in the main store at the back of the room. I had never been to Goold that I can remember, but it was like your standard little country store on an orchard! There was only one other group of people tasting wine, but I imagine that this place gets packed during prime apple picking season!…

    Girls Night in Troy

Last night my sister and a few friends and I met for dinner and drinks in Troy. It was also Troy Night Out so that was a bonus! We had dinner at Illium Cafe! Dinner was very tasty, even if service was a tad slow. I got a glass of Malbec and ordered the vegetarian pad thai with tofu. The wine was very tasty–I really like reds lately. The pad thai was made with rice noodles and had peanut sauce–very good! It wasn’t too heavy of a dish either, which was nice. After dinner we went into one of the photography shops and looked around just for fun, then headed…

    Weekend Happenings

Friday night: Friday was pretty low key! I made some home made pizza for Chris and myself, complete with some cheese from the Cheese Traveler. It was DELICIOUS and one of the best pizzas I’ve made so far! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the fake sausage–the lightlife brand. It didn’t even taste like sausage–just like fake meat product. At least it added a bit of a protein, but the rest of the pizza was really good. The cheese we used was mostly mozzarella but also some slices of Havarti from Demark. Chris went to the Cheese Traveler to pick up some. It was pretty fantastic on…

    Exploring Historic St. Augustine

Yesterday my parents and I drove to St. Augustine, about 2.5 hours up the coast of where I am. We came here once about 10 or so years ago but it was pouring rain so I’ve always wanted to go back and explore! St. Augustine is the oldest city in the country! It was pretty cool seeing the old streets and houses. But first things first, the San Sebastian Winery! First we sampled a bunch of wines. I think my favorite was a sweet white called Blanc Du Bois Reserve. I also really loved the Rose and the Vinter’s Red and the Vinter’s White. Most were sweet, which is my…

    Post-Marathon Blues

So, this was the first weekend in months that didn’t revolve around marathon training. And honestly, it was weird. Last week I was still on my post-marathon high and now I feel a bit lost…just keep thinking “what’s next???”. I don’t like being in training “limbo” with nothing on the schedule. It feels weird! All I know is I want to run another marathon this spring, but I’m not sure which one yet. A few members of Team B.A.D. also have our eyes on the Cape Cod Ragnar Relay in May–but we haven’t finalized anything yet…it’s been mostly just talk, so we’ll see! (Cape Cod is out–I just realized Chris…
