Fresh Blenders – Apples – Product Review

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Fresh Blenders, a company that sells bagged fruit for smoothies. Some of the fruit they sell include apples and pears. They sent me two huge bags of apples, both sweet and tart, to try out in my smoothies. Apples are one of my favorite snacks. In fact, I eat one every single day. They really pack a nutritional punch! Vitamin C – apples contain this powerful natural antioxidant that prevents damage caused by free radicals, as well as boosting the body’s resistance against infectious agents. B-complex vitamins (riboflavin, thiamin, and vitamin B-6) – these vitamins are key in maintaining red blood cells and…

    Dietbet

When I first started this blog back in 2010, this was mainly a place for me to talk about the food I was eating, my running, workouts and to help hold myself accountable after losing so much weight. Well, after a certain period of time, I began eating like a “normal” person again (eating real foods instead of processed diet foods which was what I was eating to lose weight) and gained back some of the weight I lost (about 15 pounds). Post-Marathon Plans

After my marathon I’m planning on taking a break for running, at least for a few months. My foot isn’t completely healed, and I want it to be 100% when/if I start training for the Ragnar Relay and the Mohawk Hudson half marathon this fall. Ultimately I want to be a better and faster runner, and that can’t happen unless I’m 100% injury free. Originally, my goal for the MHR half was to finish in 2:03:59 or faster, but whether or not that happens with a few months off from running …we’ll see. I’m just tired of constantly feeling pain in my feet. I’ve been dreading most of my runs lately (probably not…

Detox Wrap-Up and a Cookbook Giveaway!

I am officially done with my detox! In case you are just checking in, this past week I started a detox for the new year in order to jump start my weight loss (10lbs) that I am trying to lose. Check out my previous posts: Detox Day 1 Detox Update Detox Day 5 Day 6 and 7 didn’t go exactly as I had planned because I also had a 10K race on schedule for today. I noticed on Friday when I ran 3 miles that I felt zapped of energy from not having as many carbs as I usually do during the week. So, in order to fuel properly for…

    Detox Update

You may be wondering the status of my detox this week! I started the detox on Monday. Tuesday I ate pretty much the exact same thing. I’m happy to say its been going pretty well…I only strayed once yesterday. For breakfast I had a protein smoothie, which was made with frozen bananas,  almond milk & brown rice protein powder. Lunch was another version of the veggie pupusas, but without the salsa and spinach and I turned them into tacos for easy portability, along with lots of fruit and nuts for snacks. Dinner was where I strayed. I was pretty hungry when I got home and I flipped through the cookbook…
