Troy Turkey Trot 10K
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you all had a great day today. I started out my thanksgiving this morning with the Turkey Trot in Troy! It was my third time running this race but the first time doing the 10K. I didn’t really want to leave my apartment this morning to go running in 20mph winds and 23 degrees…but I’ve ran in worse so I had no excuse. Christine and I shivering before the race for started. I did a 2.3 mile warm up before the race to stay warm so once I got running it wasn’t too bad. My only goal for the 10K was to finish under an hour. I…

Easter Brunch at New World Bistro
Hope everyone had a nice holiday! I actually had to get some groceries yesterday morning and while I was at Trader Joe’s, I picked up some Easter Lilies. So pretty. Chris and I also had brunch plans for Easter at New World Bistro, one of our favorite places. (My favorite restaurant!) When we saw they were having an Easter brunch buffet, we were all for it. Usually I spend Easter with my parents, but they are still living it up in Florida, so it was just Chris and I. They had: home made sausage, bacon, eggs, shrimp and grits, veggie hash, mac and cheese, soy chorizo, yogurt and fruit, kale…

Brunch at Saratoga National
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Last night Chris and I celebrated St. Patty’s day a little early. We went to our friends’ apartment downtown for dinner of corned beef & cabbage! I brought the Irish soda bread and Irish cheddar cheese. It was my first time making the soda bread and it came out FANTASTIC. I didn’t take any shortcuts–the recipe was from one of my co-workers…so this baby is NOT healthy! The healthiest thing in it was the raisins. Anyway–that was super fun. We didn’t stay out too late–I wanted to get to an early AM spin class this morning. 😉 Chris and I also made plans for brunch this…

2013 Shamrock Run
Sunday Chris and I drove down to Kingston for the Annual Shamrock Run. This race is so funny. There are 5,000 people are running (and walking) down Broadway in Kingston to get to the end where they give out free beer from Keegan Ales, green bagels and shamrock cookies. This year was so crowded! I realized after running this race multiple times that you can’t run it for time–just for fun. My foot was feeling sore from the previous day’s long run so I took it easy. We finished in under 22 minutes! We wasted no time and went right to the post-race party for beer and green bagels. My…

Valentine’s Dinner at Pump Station
I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day! Hope it was better than Grumpy Cat’s… Our V-day dinner was nice and low key. We went out right after work before the big crowds hit. Chris and I went to the Pump Station, one of our favorite local brewery/restaurants. I ordered the 10oz Bock, which was very tasty! I really like that they have the option of the smaller size, too, in case I didn’t end up liking it that much. Thankfully I liked it! Chris got the onion rings, which I’d never tried before. They are beer-battered and not overly fried, which I really liked! The crispy coating was…
