    Green Challenge Update

In October 2010 I set out to create a series of challenges  to particpate in to help keep our environment healthy. No, I have not forgotten about the Green Challenge. But it has been months since I’ve posted a new one, mostly because I’ve been having trouble coming up with new ideas for challenges. Also, I didn’t get much feedback on any of them. One of the reasons I started it was to see how many people would do them along with me-but people it seemed like people stopped caring, then so did I. However, some of  those challenges I wrote about I still try to adhere to, except one…

Green Challenge #8 – Green Cleaning

Sorry for the delay on the Green Challenge everyone! I’ve been super busy lately with traveling, work, etc. that I didn’t have time to write up a Green post, but now here I am! June’s challenge is all about green cleaning! (source) I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, since I’ve always believed that environmentally friendly cleaning products are way better for the environment then the toxic cleaning products we’re used to using. Green Challenge #7 – Buy Less STUFF

This month’s Green Challenge is a bit late. Sorry, guys! But here it is, none the less! Green Challenge #7 – May 1, 2011 – May 1, 2012 Buy Less Stuff!!! For this challenge I’m going to try my hardest to not buy new things. Of course, this excludes essentials such as toiletries and food, but when it comes to clothes, accessories, shoes, and what not, I’m going to try to cut back. I’ve actually been cutting back for the past few months, as I haven’t bought any new (non-workout) clothes since February. Now, if I do have to buy something, I’m going to evaluate: Think about the purchase. Do I…

    Green Challenges – Revisited

Happy April 1st! The first of the month as you may know is also Green Challenge day! Today I’m going to do a little something different. I’m going to revisit all the green challenges I’ve done so far and report my progress with them. Challenge #1 – For one year, only purchase only wine or beer from whatever state I am in. This one has been going VERY well! I think I only strayed from this challenge once, when Chris and I went out to dinner for Valentines day at Athos, the Greek Restaurant, where we ordered Greek wine. This is also my favorite challenge because I really love supporting…

Green Challenge #6 – No Television for One Week per Month

Today is March first, meaning, it is Green Challenge Day! And we have another good one for you! Challenge #6 – March 1, 2011 – March 1, 2012 No Television for One Week Per Month. Simple enough, right? For this challenge, I’m going to be turning off my T.V. for a week during each month, so I can 1) have quiet time spent reading, studying, and getting work done; and 2) use less electricity! It is obvious that cutting down your electricity usage helps the planet. According to ThinkQuest, “Many things cause global warming. One thing that causes global warming is electrical pollution. Electricity causes pollution in many ways, some…
