Leaving Rainier and Biking in Bellingham
I know it’s been a while since my last post! I’m going to continue telling you about my trip to the PNW. Next up: the final day at Rainier National Park and arriving in Seattle! For the final morning in Ashford, my sister and I drove back into the park and made another trip up to Paradise. It was a bit cooler and a little more cloud but we could still see the mountain! On the way back down, we stopped for a little hike to Carter Falls. Part of the trail crosses over Paradise River and offered spectacular views of Rainier. After the hike, we drove ~2 hrs to…

Hiking Rampart Ridge and Exploring Paradise at Mount Rainier National Park
We arrived to Mount Rainier National Park early, as we heard the entrance could get crowded. I was doubtful it would be crowded this time of year! Half of the park was still closed for the winter. At the lower elevations, though, the sun was shining and everything was GREEN! We parked at the Wilderness Information Center at the Longmire Entrance to the park. We asked one of the Rangers what hike would be best to do, and she suggested the Rampart Ridge Trail, which was connected to the Trail of Shadows. Trail of Shadows was an easy little hike through the forest around a pristine meadow, which offered a…

Hiking Big Slide and the Brothers
Friday night, my sister, our friend Brendan and I drove to Keene Valley to stay a few nights in the Adirondacks for some hiking! I wanted to take my sister up there to experience a hike and thought she would enjoy it! She is in pretty good shape, even though she doesn’t do any hiking, so I figured we could tackle a moderate but not too easy hike, so I decided on Big Slide! Saturday morning at around 8:30 am, we parked at The Garden Parking lot for $7 and it was already filling up! Everyone knew it would be a nice day for hiking, despite the previous night’s rain.…

A Michigan State Wedding
Friday Chris and I arrived at our destination, East Lansing, Michigan for our friends’ wedding! Friday afternoon we stopped for lunch and some drinks around the Campus, and quickly found our favorite spot was a place called HopCat, that had 100 beers on tap! Thankfully they had the option for half pours, so I could try a small amount of different beers! I think my favorite was Soft Parade, a beer brewed in Michigan. Saturday morning Chris and I took a nice long walk around the MSU Campus. It was HUGE! Then it was time to head back to the hotel (we stayed right on campus in the Kellog)…

Memorial Day Weekend 2014 – Ohio City
Memorial Day Weekend 2014 was pretty epic. Chris and I traveled to East Lansing, Michigan to attend our friends’ wedding at Michigan State University. On our way to Michigan we stopped in Cleveland, Ohio. It was the first time I have ever been to Ohio or Michigan. We stayed at the most perfect B&B in the Ohio City part of Cleveland, called the J Palen House. It was a great B&B and I would highly recommend it if you ever find yourself in Cleveland and need a place to stay. We arrived in Cleveland around 1:30PM after a 7 hour drive, and wandered around Ohio City. Our first stop: Market…
